Jean Criswell passed away September 19, 2018 at the age of 98.
She was the devoted wife of the late J. Carl Criswell Jr. and the loving mother of Patricia Van Cleve (Earl), Janet Williams (John), and Nancy Bretherick (Donald).
In addition to her daughters, she is survived by five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, she studied piano and sang in the choir of Ninth Presbyterian Church.
She was a proud alumna of Girls' High School and Temple University.
After receiving her degree, she taught business classes at Collingdale High School and then lovingly raised her family in Lansdowne.
Jean loved choral and classical music, was gifted in needlework and sewing, and savored opportunities to travel.
In retirement, she enjoyed birdwatching and joined book, play reading, and quilting clubs.
She was a lifelong voracious reader.
Above all, Jean was devoted to her family.
Always putting others first, she poured herself into nurturing others.
She was kind, generous, loyal, and endowed with a gentle sense of humor.
Jean taught by example and was known for her manners and grace.
Her funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Springfield, PA at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 24th.
