Marlene Warkoczewski

September 11, 1933 — March 16, 2019

Marlene Warkoczewski, 85, of Coatesville, PA, formerly of West Chester, PA, passed away on March 16, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Butler, MO in 1933, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Edward and Thelma (nee Berry) Stayton. Marlene graduated at the top of her class from the University of Missouri, Kansas City with a Bachelor's in Accounting, and she was the only female student in the school of Physics and Math. She received numerous honors, including the prestigious Bausch and Lomb Science Award.

Marlene had a long and successful career as an Accountant and retired from Taylor's Music Store & Studios in West Chester.

She was a beautiful soul who cherished the splendor of Nature. A perfect day for her consisted of tending to her flower gardens and enjoying the birds and butterflies that gathered there. Monarchs were her favorite butterflies, and she loved going on trips to Cape May with her family where she could witness the annual Monarch migration. Because she was so passionate about wildlife and the environment, she was an avid supporter of many Nature causes.

Marlene loved music and was a trained pianist. She enjoyed playing her baby grand piano and had an extensive collection of sheet music.

Marlene had a zest for life, and had so many hobbies and interests that it would be impossible to mention them all. In addition to gardening and wildlife, Marlene also enjoyed sewing, creative cooking, puzzles (especially Sudoku!), painting, coloring, crafting, reading, dogs, history, current events and many, many more.

Marlene loved her family dearly and treasured visits with her kids and her grand kids. She touched many lives and hearts and will be greatly missed.

Marlene was the beloved wife of Edmund G. Filetti; loving mother of Karen Myers (Scott) and Joan Barnett (Thomas); adoring grandmother of Kristin Renee Kerin, Ryan Floyd Barnett, and Kathryn Joyce Barnett; dear sister of Dr. Samuel Stayton (Donelda); caring aunt of Rebecca and Sarah.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 10-11 AM Saturday, March 30, 2019 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 43 W. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19355, followed by her Memorial Service 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to The Nature Conservancy, Attn: Treasury, 4245 N. Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22203, would be appreciated.
